How this works

The maths behind the numbers

Nothing hidden. These are the same formulas used across the industry, stated plainly.

Monthly SIP

Each instalment is invested at the start of the month and compounds monthly at one twelfth of the annual rate. The calculator finds the instalment that lands exactly on your target, or the value your chosen instalment grows to.

One-time lumpsum

A single amount compounds once a year at the assumed rate. In goal mode it works backwards to the amount you would need to invest today.

Three scenarios

Cautious at 10%, Balanced at 12% and Growth at 14% a year. They bracket a range of outcomes rather than predicting one. Equity funds have delivered above and below all three over different periods.

What is left out

Inflation, taxes on gains, exit loads and the expense ratio of any specific fund. A real plan with Fortune Bridge accounts for all of these against your actual goal.
